We are almost in the middle of the year and so far, six brand new illustrated travel posters have been published since January. Summer is the busiest season for the entirety of professionals living & working in the islands, so during this brief overview I would also like to announce that there will be no more new posters for the next 3 months. Έχουμε αισίως φτάσει στο μέσο της χρονιάς και η υπόσχεση για ένα καινούριο ταξιδιωτικό πόστερ κάθε μήνα έχει ως τώρα τηρηθεί. Έξι ολοκαίνουρια εικονογραφημένα ταξιδιωτικά πόστερ δημοσιεύθηκαν φέτος και για μια ακόμα φορά έφτασε η ώρα της μικρής καθιερωμένης μας επισκόπησης.

Last December, three brand new illustrated movie posters were featured on this page. By the end of those publications I promised you a brief overview of the entire project, but the holiday season caught up with me and I just couldn’t find the time. Promises are worth only when they’re kept, so here goes my overview.

Cinema has always been (and still remains) one of my favorite things. My first illustrated film posters were published in April 2018 (a trilogy dedicated to renowned Soviet director Andrei Tarkovsky). Reception on the social networking pages was not exactly enthusiastic, but I take into consideration that cinema is a difficult subject, let alone Tarkovsky.

Movie posters, however, were first and foremost a personal creative expression, thus I never really regret the time I spent on them. The icing on the cake is that they finally found their audience at FNK's online stores, and they have by now traveled to the edges of the world. The urge for expression never stops, cinema is an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and the mere thought that somewhere on this planet there is someone who may have felt the exact same thing when watching the exact same movie with me, sound to me like a suggestion that I should continue. The poster designs are now six while new ideas are already being explored, and I sincerely hope that once again I ‘ll have the pleasure of sharing them with you.

Το Δεκέμβριο που πέρασε είχαν παρουσιαστεί σε αυτή εδώ τη σελίδα τρία ολοκαίνουργια εικονογραφημένα κινηματογραφικά πόστερ. Στον επίλογο εκείνων των δημοσιεύσεων σας είχα υποσχεθεί μαι συνοπτική ανασκόπηση του project, που όμως (ελέω εορτών) δεν έγινε πότε. Και επειδή δεν είναι ωραίο να αφήνεις υπόλοιπα ήρθε σήμερα η ώρα για εκείνη ακριβώς την ανασκόπηση.

Ο κινηματογράφος υπήρξε πάντοτε (και εξακολουθεί να είναι) μια από τις πιο αγαπημένες μου ασχολίες. Ήταν απόλυτα φυσικό λοιπόν, αφού έλαχε να ασχοληθώ επαγγελματικά με τη γραφιστική, να καταπιαστώ με κάτι που θα είχε σχέση με το σινεμά. Τα εικονογραφημένα κινηματογραφικά πόστερ ξεκίνησαν να παρουσιάζονται τον Απρίλιο του 2018, με μια τριλογία αφιερωμένη στον Αντρέι Ταρκόφσκι. Η υποδοχή που τους επιφυλάχθηκε στις σελίδες κοινωνικής δικτύωσης δεν ήταν ακριβώς ενθουσιώδης, αλλά θα αναγνωρίσω οτι το σινεμά είναι δύσκολο σαν θέμα, πόσο μάλλον ο Ταρκόφκσι.

Τα κινηματογραφικά πόστερ όμως ήταν πρώτα και πάνω απ’ όλα προσωπική δημιουργική έκφραση και έτσι δεν μετάνιωσα ποτέ για το χρόνο που τους αφιέρωσα. Το κερασάκι στην τούρτα είναι ότι τελικά βρήκαν και το κοινό τους στα δικτυακά καταστήματα της FNK, και έχουν πια ταξιδέψει στις άκρες του κόσμου. Η διάθεση για έκφραση δεν σταματά όμως ποτέ, ο κινηματογράφος είναι μια ανεξάντλητη πηγή έμπνευσης και η σκέψη ότι κάπου σε αυτό τον πλανήτη υπάρχει κάποιος που ίσως ένιωσε ότι και εγώ βλέποντας την ίδια ταινία μου δίνει το έναυσμα να συνεχίσω. Τα πόστερ έχουν πιά γίνει έξι ενώ κάμποσες νέες ιδέες δουλεύονται ήδη και ελπίζω κάποτε να έχω τη χαρά να τα μοιραστώ και πάλι μαζί σας.

Just a week ago, I was happy to return to one of my most beloved endeavors, the illustrated travel posters project, with a brand new design. Την εβδομάδα που πέρασε επέστρεψα (μετά από πολύ καιρό είναι αλήθεια) σε μια από τις αγαπημένες μου σειρές, αυτή των εικονογραφημένων ταξιδιωτικών πόστερ, με μια ολοκαίνουρια σύνθεση. Η 26ή κατά σειρά αφίσα έτυχε να είναι επίσης η 10η με προορισμό τη Λευκάδα, η 5η με θέμα ένα φάρο και η 3η με σκηνικό ένα ηλιοβασίλεμα (αυτά περί προτεραιοτήτων). Illustrated Travel Posters / Lefkada, Lighthouse at sunset

My return to the illustrated travel posters project is a promise fulfilled and also a great way to start this year, so here we go! Once again, and just for luck, our first stop is the island of Lefkada. The lighthouse at the medieval castle is a theme that I have already visited in the past, but considering my love for lighthouses and the splendor of a Mediterranean sunset, I felt I had to revisit. Ο φάρος στο κάστρο είναι ένα θέμα που έχω ξαναεπισκεφθεί, αλλά η μαγεία του ηλιοβασιλέματος και η αγάπη μου για τους φάρους με έσπρωξε σε μια δεύτερη σύνθεση.
