Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970), British philosopher, logician, mathematician, historian, writer, social critic and political activist. He is considered one of the founders of analytic philosophy and is widely held to be one of the 20th century's premier logicians. His work has had a considerable influence on logic, mathematics, set theory, linguistics, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, computer science and philosophy, especially the philosophy of language, epistemology, and metaphysics. In 1950 Russell was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "in recognition of his varied and significant writings in which he champions humanitarian ideals and freedom of thought" - passed away on February the 2nd.

Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970), Βρεττανός φιλόσοφος, μαθηματικός, ιστορικός, θεωρητικός της Λογικής, ειρηνιστής και άθεος. Θεωρείται ένας από τους θεμελιωτές της αναλυτικής φιλοσοφίας μαζί με τον προστατευόμενό του Βίτγκενστάιν. Ένα από τα πρώτα του έργα υπήρξε το Principia Mathematica (το έγραψε σε συνεργασία με τον Whitehead). Άλλα γνωστά του έργα: "Πολιτικά Ιδεώδη", "Ιστορία Φιλοσοφίας". Το κείμενό του "Γιατί δεν είμαι Χριστιανός" θεωρήθηκε μανιφέστο του αθεϊσμού. To 1950 τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Νόμπελ λογοτεχνίας - απεβίωσε 2 Φεβρουαρίου.
