Vintage Tiles: Set 5

It’s Monday today, the beginning of another week, but also the end of the vintage tiles project with the presentation of the fifth and last (for the time being) set. For five consecutive weeks twenty vintage tile designs, covering a wide range of styles, have been published. Besides the already posted artwork there are a few more unfinished and preliminary designs plus some experimentations with more complex forms. The research material is vast and I truly hope I can revisit the project sometime in the near future.

Today’s designs and patterns come from previously published as well as new and unknown sources.
Pictured below, there are tiles from Generator Hostel (Carrer de Corsega, Barcelona), Marítim Restaurant (Moll d'Espanya, Barcelona) and an unspecified source in Singapore.

Δευτέρα σήμερα και κάπως έτσι το ταξίδι στα vintage πλακίδια φθάνει στην ολοκλήρωση του, με τη δημοσίευση του (προς το παρόν) τελευταίου σετ. Για πέντε εβδομάδες παρουσιάστηκαν είκοσι συνολικά σχέδια που κάλυψαν ένα ευρύ σχεδιαστικό φάσμα και μια ποικιλία από τεχνοτροπίες. Εκτός από τις ολοκληρωμένες παραστάσεις υπάρχουν αρκετές ακόμα σε ημιτελές ή αρχικό στάδιο, καθώς και κάποιοι πειραματισμοί σε περισσότερο ανορθόδοξες φόρμες. Το υλικό που προέκυψε από την έρευνα είναι πολλαπλάσιο και ελπίζω να βρεθεί ο χρόνος για να ξαναεπισκεφθώ το συγκεκριμένο project.

Τα τέσσερα σημερινά σχέδια έρχονται από πηγές που έχουν ξαναπαρουσιαστεί, από νέες προσθήκες αλλα και άγνωστες πηγές. Αναλυτικά, φιλοξενούνται πλακίδια και τα αντίστοιχα μοτίβα, από το Generator Hostel (Carrer de Corsega, Βαρκελώνη), το εστιατόριο Marítim (Moll d'Espanya, Βαρκελώνη) αλλά και από άγνωστο κτίριο στη Σιγκαπούρη.
