Carl Jung

"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes".

Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961), Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who founded analytical psychology. His work has been influential not only in psychiatry but also in philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, literature, and religious studies. He was a prolific writer, though many of his works were not published until after his death. The central concept of analytical psychology is individuation—the psychological process of integrating the opposites, including the conscious with the unconscious, while still maintaining their relative autonomy. Jung considered individuation to be the central process of human development. Jung created some of the best known psychological concepts, including the archetype, the collective unconscious, the complex, and extraversion and introversion. Passed away on June the 6th.

Εισηγητής της αναλυτικής ψυχολογίας, στενός φίλος του άλλου μεγάλου της συγκεκριμένης επιστήμης, Σίγκμουντ Φρόιντ, ο Καρλ Γιουνγκ, άνοιξε πρακτικά το παράθυρο με θέα στο ασυνείδητο, στην καταγραφή και μελέτη των ονείρων, των παραισθήσεων, ακόμη και των οραμάτων, στοχεύοντας στη θεραπεία των νευρώσεων. Το απόσταγμα των μελετών και των δικών του προσωπικών εμπειριών με τη νεύρωση το έκλεισε στο περίφημο «Κόκκινο Βιβλίο» του, μία άγρια, ωστόσο περιγραφική χαρτογράφηση της χαμένης ανθρώπινης ψυχής, και ειδικότερα της δικής του ψυχής.
